APHF participated in the Liver Walk, showing support for liver health awareness and the community. The event was joined by Dr. Tran and Dr. France Nguyen, along with staff members Jake and Christie. Core Volunteers Grace, Amanda, Emely, Emma, Sophia, Nhi, and Kai also participated, alongside high school volunteer Ekaterina from the APHF Chapter at Del Norte High School.

APHF staff and Core Volunteers got together at Coronado Bay for a fun team bonding day. We played pickleball, shared some pizza, and spent time getting to know each other outside of our usual work. It was a great chance to relax, connect, and enjoy the day together. Looking forward to more moments like this!

Former APHF Master of Public Health student Hetty Zhang presented her project, “Assessing Changes in Knowledge Following Outreach Education Sessions with APHF,” at the SDSU Student Symposium. Her research examined how APHF outreach education sessions influenced participants’ knowledge of hepatitis. She was mentored by Dr. France Nguyen and Dr. Quyen Ly.

Asian Pacific Health Foundation (APHF) participated in the VAYA New Year’s Festival and provided free screenings for hypertension and blood glucose. A total of 7 individuals were screened. This effort was made possible by a dedicated team, including phlebotomist Tu La and preceptors Dr. Betty Nguyen, Dr. Khanh Vu, and Dr. Tri Luu. American Pacific Health Foundation(APHF) joined a community health fair hosted by Medical, Educational Missions and Outreach (M.E.M.O.) at UC San Diego. APHF provided a range of free clinical screenings, including blood glucose (diabetes), cholesterol, vision, and hepatitis B and C testing. APHF provided tuberculosis (TB) education to a sports medicine class at San Ysidro High School. During the session, the team assessed students’ baseline knowledge and presented an overview of TB, including symptoms, screening options, and treatment. The goal was to increase awareness and help students better understand the importance of early detection and prevention. APHF thanks the students for their participation and engagement throughout the session.
