DONATIONS

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Silent chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and hepatitis are the cause of great suffering for millions in America and across the world. Consider the following statistics:

  1. Worldwide, 1 in 11 adults has diabetes and every 6 seconds a person dies from diabetes. Approximately 30% of North American regions in 2015 are undiagnosed. The vast majority of people with diabetes (82.6%) live in urban areas.

  2. Hypertension is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease and affects almost one-third of the U.S. adult population. Approximately 60% of hypertension control will not meet the goal of the Healthy People by 2020.

  3. Worldwide, 1 in 3 women over age 50 will experience osteoporotic fractures, as will 1 in 5 men aged over 50. Eighty percent of high-risk individuals who already had at least one osteoporotic fracture are neither identified nor treated.

  4. Hepatitis B and C have affected over 5 million Americans, with nearly 75% unaware of their infection. Approximately 80% of hepatocellular carcinoma cases (a type of liver cancer) are associated with chronic hepatitis B or hepatitis C.

The good news is that, with early detection and treatment, these diseases can be managed with minimal drawbacks on quality of life.

Prevention of these needless sufferings is the mission of American Pacific Health Foundation (APHF). We provide health education, screening, and linkage to care for underserved populations in San Diego, and in 16 years of service to the community, have screened and connected over 4800 individuals to needed care. As a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, our achievements have only been possible thanks to the financial support from our community.

Every $50 in donations means one more person receives screening for hepatitis, diabetes, hypertension, and osteoporosis.

Additionally, we have sponsorship packages for individuals, companies, and organizations to donate to our cause.

Any level of sponsorship would be greatly appreciated and put toward great use for our 2019 events.

Please consider helping APHF to continue providing free screening and health education to San Diego residents, especially to the most vulnerable populations. We hope to hear from you soon!

APHF Tax ID number is 26-3320879. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
