The Asian Pacific Health Foundation (APHF) partnered once again with ACCESS Inc., a local career development and immigration agency that strives to address the needs of local underserved populations, to host another successful health fair on August 4th, 2019! The outreach was held at Community Market in Linda Vista (2612 Daniel Ave, San Diego 92111) from 9:00am - 2:00pm. The outreach location was conveniently located in a neighborhood, which allowed us to assist many individuals around the Linda Vista community. With the support from ACCESS Inc., all of the registration forms were translated to Spanish. Due to the fact that the Community Market provided Spanish Interpreters to assist with translation and student volunteers can speak Spanish fluently, we were able to register over 10 patients for our comprehensive screenings (hepatitis B, hypertension, cholesterol, and diabetes)!
The mission of APHF is to advance health and wellness for the vulnerable groups in San Diego and Imperial Counties by providing health education and free community health screenings for hepatitis B, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders at community centers. At this event, we were able to expand our services to the Hispanic community and diversify our demographics.
Our foundation would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to Daisy Alonso for providing us an indoor space for our outreach and expressing an interest for a partnership with our foundation for future outreaches. We will be returning and providing our services to this community every other month.
Program Coordinators Diana Le, Rebecca Kuan, and David Lam led the outreach operations for set-up and equipment transportation. Their stellar leadership and training ensured an organized work flow for volunteers and staff.
