Operations Update
Despite limitations associated with COVID-19, APHF will continue to provide educational resources in order to foster the professional development of volunteers. In lieu of outreaches, APHF is offering:

  • Virtual Educational Conferences - These conferences will highlight heath topics such as COVID-19, Viral Hepatitis, Osteoporosis, Public Health, Metabolic Syndrome, and more.

  • Virtual Workshops - These interactive workshops will provide volunteers more insight on professional school applications (medical/pharmacy), basic phrases for medical interpretation, clinical skills, MCAT, and more.

  • Coffee Break Sessions - Our staff members are also hosting informal sessions for volunteers to get to know more about us and vice versa. These sessions focus on topics such as undergraduate / postgraduate experience, career options, leadership development, job and interview  advice, and healthcare career pathways.

Registration - Assist in directing patients to appropriate stations, while making sure that all patient forms are completed. You will assist patients with completing electronic registration forms and monitoring informative video sessions. If you sign up for this station, it is preferred that you are fluent in two or more languages.

Equipment Team** - Help volunteer coordinators transport equipment to outreach site before the event, set up the stations, and assist with tear down once event ends. One volunteer coordinator will be present at each event to oversee the process.

**You will be assigned to the equipment team by random selection. If you ask for a ride from a Program Coordinator, you are automatically placed in this team. Usually, Program Coordinators are able to divide all the equipment among their own cars before and after the outreach, so volunteers will most likely not be asked to accompany them to drop equipment off. Being assigned to the equipment team mainly entails helping Program Coordinators pack and load all the equipment into cars.
