The successful outreach with the Medical, Educational Missions and Outreach (MEMO) organization at Copley Price YMCA in City Heights - East San Diego on March 5, 2022 was a change from the previous years’ events. Instead of using the indoor gymnasium, this time, the event took place on the courtyard by the parking lot.
Several groups besides Asian Pacific Health Foundation were present to provide COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, and other services. We had the visit of Dr. Sarah Lorentz, PharmD, who did great work with Partners of Medication Therapy at UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Dr. Lorentz was introduced to the different station leaders.
In spite of sprinkling rain at times, Dr. Gish came towards the end, witnessing the provision of tests and consultation of metabolic diseases and glaucoma to patients.
A strong contingent of volunteers was present at the outreach, working at the following stations:
Registration: Hoang Nguyen, Tushita Tandon, Mariana Iturry
Hypertension: Andrew Pham. Isabel Nguyen, Sruthika Prakash
Eye care: Aryanne Do, Sergio Barretto
Flow Management: David Lam
Hepatitis B: Winnie Gong, Shaelin Chong, Amanda Phang, Rolando Arreola
Hepatitis C: Donna Pham, Jody Wong
Education : Annie Pang, Matthew San Pedro, Caroline Steele
Tuberculosis: Andre Hirakawa
Phlebotomist: Thuan Tran, RN
Consultation: Binh Tran, PharmD
Patients were very appreciative of services rendered.
We thank MEMO organizers for contacting APHF over the years, and all participants for dedicated work as we resume in-person work.
All were treated to tasty taco food lunch provided by Food Trucks.
