The Asian Pacific Health Foundation (APHF) partnered for the first time at the UDW Headquarters on September 28th, 2019! The outreach was held at UDW Headquarters in El Cajon, (4855 Seminole Dr, San Diego, CA 92115) from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The outreach site was conveniently located in a busy street and neighborhood which attracted a diverse community. With the support from UDW and the APHF staff, the registration forms were assisted with Vietnamese in addition to English. We were able to register over 15 patients for our comprehensive screenings (hepatitis B and C, hypertension, cholesterol, and diabetes)!
The mission of APHF is to advance health and wellness for the vulnerable groups in different regions of San Diego by providing health education and free community health screenings for hepatitis B and C, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders at community centers. At this event, we were able to expand our services to the community of El Cajon.
Our foundation would like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to UDW Headquarters for setting up the venue and providing tables, chairs, food and music. The event brought a lot of attention to the community and patients were encouraged to visit different booths for a scavenger hunt to win giveaways. As a result, we had a high volume of guests interested in our organization.
Outreach and Volunteer Coordinators Trinity Van, Rebecca Kuan, Kevin Lee and David Lam led the outreach operations for set-up and equipment transportation. Their stellar leadership and training ensured an organized work flow for volunteers and staff.
