The Asian Pacific Health Foundation (APHF) collaborated with the community of City Heights to attend the City Heights Lantern Festival for the first time on September 7th, 2019. The outreach was held at 5296 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92105 from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. The outreach site was conveniently located along University Ave (next to Vien Dong IV Supermarket, which allowed us to assist many individuals around City Heights. APHF’s operation team arrive early at 10:30 AM to set-up and began operation at 1:00 PM.
With the support from City Heights Lantern Festival organizers and Vien Dong IV Supermarket, we were able to register patients for our comprehensive screenings (hepatitis B and C, hypertension, cholesterol, and diabetes)!
The mission of APHF is to advance health and wellness for the vulnerable groups in San Diego and Imperial Counties by providing health education and free community health screenings for hepatitis B, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders at community centers. At this event, we were able to expand our services to many minorities in the Asian communities and distinguish ourselves from other non-profit organization.
Program Coordinators Diana Le, Rebecca Kuan, Kevin Lam and David Lam led the outreach operations for set-up and equipment transportation. Their stellar leadership and training ensured an organized workflow for volunteers and staff.
